Terms of Use

The licence

Your licence to use Snapshelf is Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). It sets out the scope of the licence, the warranty position, and how disputes are handled. We have not written a separate agreement to sit on top of it, so if you want the full legal terms, that is the document to read.

Snapshelf is made and published by Ting Tze Chuen, an individual developer (sole trader).

Your content stays yours

Everything you scan, import, edit or translate in Snapshelf belongs to you. We claim no rights over any of it, and we could not use it if we wanted to: there is no Snapshelf server. Your snippets live on your device, and — if you turn on syncing — in your own private iCloud account. We have no access to them.

That cuts both ways. Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover your snippets if you lose them. Keeping backups is up to you. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.

Scanning material you have the right to scan

Snapshelf makes copies of printed material. You are responsible for having the right to do so with whatever you scan. Copyright rules differ by country and commonly allow personal, accessibility-related or research copying, but that judgement is yours to make.

Snapshelf Pro subscriptions

  • Pro is available as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, billed to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can cancel at any time in Settings ▸ your Apple Account ▸ Subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and Pro keeps working until then.
  • Cancellation goes through Apple. We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, because we are not the ones billing you.
  • Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. You have to cancel it through Apple as well.

The lifetime purchase

The lifetime option is a single payment. It never renews, and there is nothing to cancel. It is Family Shareable, so up to six people in your Family Sharing group can use Snapshelf Pro from that one purchase. "Lifetime" refers to the lifetime of the app, and is not a guarantee that the app will be published indefinitely.

Prices and refunds

Prices vary by region and may change; a change never affects a purchase you have already made. Every purchase is processed by Apple, so refunds are Apple's process rather than ours — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something has gone wrong we would still rather hear about it at hello@snapshelf.app and try to fix it.

What the app needs, and what it cannot promise

Snapshelf 2.0 requires iOS 26 and runs on iPhone and iPad. Features may change, and future versions may require a newer version of iOS.

Text recognition, translation and synthesised speech are imperfect technologies. Please do not rely on Snapshelf where a mistake would be harmful — medical, legal, financial or safety-critical documents among them. Check the original wherever accuracy matters.
